To help increase output and lower costs at FEC quarry, Rinker Materials recently purchased a 752 Page dragline with a bucket capacity of 58 cubic yards (44 cubic metres).
The machine has the latest in electronic controls, including an Allen-Bradley PLC logical controller. It runs on 7,200 volts, has 7,250 total horsepower, can dig down to 155 feet and bring up 75 tons (68 tonnes) of material every scoop. The boom is 270 feet long (82 metres), the boom point is 160 feet (50 metres) off the ground and the base of the machine is 56 feet (17 metres) in diameter. Now that’s a big bucket.
The new dragline was transported from North Dakota in 110 truckloads. It took just over 80,000 man-hours to put together the 4,200,000 pounds (2,000,000 kilograms) machine but even more impressive, we achieved this with ZERO accidents.
One of 11 machines currently working in Florida, expertise and parts will be easily accessible for future maintenance. The success of this project was due to the dedicated and hard working employees of P&H MinePro Service, North American Coal Co. and Rinker Materials. College recruiting at its best
